League of Legends TCG Riftbound Releases in October With 300 Cards
Riot Games is launching Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game globally this October, starting with a massive 300-card set filled with iconic champions, multiplayer formats, and collector-ready content.
Riftbound: Riot’s First Physical League of Legends Card Game
After dominating the MOBA and digital card game markets, Riot Games is officially expanding into physical trading card games with Riftbound: League of Legends TCG. Previously known under the codename "Project K," this highly anticipated game will feature a 300-card debut set titled Riftbound: Origins, launching in China this summer and rolling out across English-speaking countries in October 2025.
300 Cards and Iconic Champions From Day One
The Origins set includes some of the most popular League of Legends champions such as Jinx, Yasuo, Lux, Garen, Viktor, Annie, Volibear, Lee Sin, and Master Yi. Every card showcases original artwork crafted specifically for the trading card game, offering fans new visual takes on beloved characters from Runeterra.
Game Modes and Product Formats
At launch, Riftbound will support several gameplay styles including 1v1, 2v2 multiplayer, and free-for-all modes—providing a dynamic gameplay experience for casual and competitive players alike.
To accommodate different levels of experience, Riot is releasing Riftbound in multiple formats:
- Champion Decks: Ready-to-play preconstructed decks themed around champions like Jinx.
- Booster Packs: 14-card packs for collectors and deck optimizers.
- Proving Grounds Starter Set: A 2–4 player beginner-friendly box including champions like Lux, Annie, Garen, and Master Yi.
Whether you're new to TCGs or a long-time competitor, Riftbound provides a well-structured entry point for all skill levels.
Built for Newcomers and TCG Veterans
Riot has clearly stated its goal to make Riftbound both accessible and deeply strategic. From entry-level starter kits to complex deck customization, the game will support players at every experience level.
Demo stations and live previews are expected at major conventions and Riot-hosted community events in the months leading up to launch, allowing fans to test the mechanics firsthand and provide final feedback before the full release.
Riot Responds to Community Feedback
Executive Producer Chengran Chai praised the player base for early input, noting that feedback significantly influenced Riftbound’s design:
“We’re grateful to the growing Riftbound community and the TCG players who've jumped in early to share their feedback—including the call for more original art and refined UI.”
As a result, Riot has refined the game’s visuals and mechanics, aiming to deliver a polished experience at launch.
Why Riftbound Matters for League of Legends Fans
Riftbound represents a bold leap into physical tabletop gaming for Riot. With previous success in games like Legends of Runeterra and Teamfight Tactics, this new TCG allows players to engage with League’s universe in a tactile, collectible way.
Fans can expect a mix of competitive depth and social accessibility, whether they're looking to boost their deck strategy, join tournaments, or casually battle friends with their favorite LoL champions.
A Competitive and Collectible Experience Awaits
With the launch of Riftbound, Riot aims to shake up the TCG scene much like it did with MOBAs and digital card games. The massive card pool, multiplayer focus, and creative product design give it all the tools to become a lasting favorite.
Whether you're collecting champion cards, climbing local ranks, or just exploring the League universe from a new angle, Riftbound is the next step in your journey through Runeterra.
