Adaptive force is an effect in League of Legends that increases either ability power or attack damage, depending on which stat the player has more of. This mechanic allows your build to adapt as you purchase new items, switching the buffed stat if needed.
The term isn't widely used in item descriptions; Riot Games often specifies the increase to attack damage or ability power individually. One point of adaptive force equals 0.6 points of attack damage or one point of ability power. As your stats change throughout the game, adaptive force adjusts to enhance the stat you are prioritizing.
You can boost adaptive force through various runes, champion abilities, and items:

Lethality is a champion statistic that serves as a form of armor penetration, introduced in 2017. It converts to flat armor penetration and scales based on the opponent's level, helping in damage calculations by reducing the target's armor—but not below zero.
Lethality assists champions, especially assassins, to remain effective even when behind in the late game. It stacks additively and is calculated after armor reductions and percentage armor penetration. The calculation for flat armor penetration from lethality is:
X(0.6 + 0.4 × Y ÷ 18)
Where X is lethality and Y is the opponent’s level.
