Lotus Map Changes

•With the release of Episode 8, the map pool is changing, and modifications are being introduced to both Lotus and Icebox. This article will detail the changes to Lotus and analyze how these adjustments may impact the agents and meta of the map.

A Main and Link Changes

•The adjustment to A Main creates additional difficulty for attackers entering A Link. Previously, defenders had limited escape routes, primarily relying on retreating into Link. Now, added cover forces attackers to use more utility when clearing the area.

•Changes to A Link are minimal, with a slight widening of the area beyond the door. This provides more space to evade damaging utility and allows for the placement of flank-watching tools.

Impact on the Map

•The map has often centered around early battles for control of A Main, where attackers held a significant advantage. The alterations to A Main are expected to balance this advantage, enabling defenders to set up crossfires and providing Chamber with strategic opportunities. Chamber can utilize the new cover to set up Rendezvous and teleport out, offering more flexibility in playstyle.

•The slight adjustment to A Link benefits Chamber, allowing for the placement of Trademark on the breakable door's side, enhancing defensive strategies.

A Site Changes

•The lane in the middle of the site has been replaced with a structure similar to Icebox's B Site, featuring a cutout space at the back. This forces attackers to push deeper into the site to clear out this area fully.

Impact on the Map

•Defenders gain an advantage with the removal of the middle lane, making back site control more challenging for attackers. It also facilitates easier retakes for defenders, particularly with the introduction of Killjoy's Lockdown in the cutout area, providing a strong retake option.

B Site Changes

•The entire site has been widened, creating a 50-50 angle at the entry. The planting area has been adjusted, providing additional space for spike planting.

Impact on the Map

•The widened site challenges attackers to clear the left side area, potentially exposing them to crossfire from A Link, Upper, or C Link. This adjustment enhances the value of Viper's Toxic Screen and offers strategic opportunities for Chamber's Rendezvous.

C Site and Bend Changes

•C Site has undergone significant alterations, with the introduction of a wider chokepoint and revamped back site. The ramp to Bend now offers defenders more elevation options.

Impact on the Map

•The widened chokepoint at C Site presents a more formidable challenge for attackers, necessitating proper area clearance and respecting defensive utility. Chamber benefits from additional Rendezvous placement options, while the revamped Bend area offers defenders increased holding space.

Impact on the Lotus Meta

•Overall, the changes tilt the map in favor of defenders, addressing the imbalance that previously favored attackers. With increased emphasis on utility usage and strategic positioning, double Initiator compositions may see increased adoption. Chamber emerges as a key beneficiary of these changes, gaining new tactical opportunities. Viper's utility becomes even more impactful, punishing attackers attempting to push through her areas.

The Lotus map changes in Episode 8 introduce significant shifts in gameplay dynamics, favoring defenders and promoting strategic diversity. These adjustments are poised to reshape the meta and encourage the exploration of new agent compositions and tactics.
