League of Legends’ Arena mode is making a grand return with a twist that completely redefines match dynamics. The new Guest of Honor system introduces select champions that alter the game’s rules, adding layers of strategy and chaos to every fight.

Set to debut on the PBE with Patch 25.05 and followed by a second wave in Patch 25.07, this update promises an ever-evolving meta for Arena mode.

The Guest of Honor system allows players to vote for special champions whose unique effects persist throughout the match. These effects range from economic shifts to combat mechanics, dramatically altering the way Arena mode is played.

Rell – Reduces the cost of Prismatic Anvils by 1,000 gold, easing the path to high-tier upgrades.
Xin Zhao – Grants a Gold Stat Anvil when your team’s health drops below 60. The first time you’re at risk of elimination, you receive a Prismatic Stat Anvil for a potential comeback.
Talon – One combatant on each team deals 20% increased damage but drops 250 gold when slain, introducing a high-risk, high-reward element.
Draven – Increases the chance of receiving higher-tier Stat Anvils, especially when on a hot streak.

Darius – Each team takes 50 damage per match; upon elimination of a team, the remaining teams heal 5 HP.
Alistar – Prevents elimination once per match by setting a team’s health to 1 instead of knocking them out.
Cassiopeia – Causes every team to lose 5 HP per round, building tension as rounds progress.
Briar – Increases round damage by 5, with a win while at risk healing 15 HP.
Ambessa – Players sacrifice health during combat for several rounds, later receiving a powerful augment based on the health lost.

Mordekaiser (1) – Randomly pulls one player from each team into the Death Realm for unexpected 1v1 duels.
Mordekaiser (2) – Completely disables revives, making every elimination permanent.
Elise – Instead of standard revives, defeated players are trapped in cocoons until freed by teammates.
Sion – The Ring of Fire spawns 15 seconds earlier and moves unpredictably, emphasizing positioning.
Samira – The first team to land a hit gains two Juice stacks, increasing up to four on a hot streak, rewarding quick reflexes.
LeBlanc – Every 25 seconds, all players turn invisible for 3 seconds, adding unpredictability.

Vladimir – Grants every player an extra augment, enhancing build variety.
Swain – Players collect Ravens during combat to determine the tier of their future augments.
Katarina – Provides every player five rerolls to better tailor their builds.
Riven – Appears in the voting phase without introducing rule changes.

Trundle – Legendary items are locked, but Legendary Anvils remain available, altering late-game itemization.
Mel – Enables four additional Hexgates per combat, offering unexpected repositioning opportunities.

The Guest of Honor system adds a strategic twist to Arena mode. Here are a few tips:

• Adapt your strategy based on the active Guest of Honor. If Mordekaiser is active, prepare for isolated duels. If Talon is in play, avoid feeding enemy gold.
• Leverage augment-enhancing champions like Swain and Vladimir to maximize build flexibility.
• Keep a close eye on enemy positioning when Sion or Elise are in play, as their mechanics can be game-changing.
